How we can help

Explore hand and wrist care at FYZICAL Woburn

Explore some of the concerns we assess and how care can be tailored to your activities and goals.

Wrist tendon irritation

Repeated or unfamiliar hand use can irritate tendons around the wrist. Care may include changes to demanding tasks and movement and strengthening matched to your symptoms.

Request an appointment

Thumb-side wrist pain

De Quervain’s tenosynovitis involves irritation around tendons on the thumb side of the wrist. For a diagnosis of De Quervain’s tenosynovitis, your therapist can discuss activity adjustments, rehabilitation options and specialist input when needed.

Request an appointment

Hand and thumb osteoarthritis

Joint changes can make pinching, gripping and small movements uncomfortable. PT may focus on mobility, strength and practical ways to manage daily tasks; it does not reverse arthritis.

Request an appointment

Carpal tunnel-related symptoms

Pressure on a nerve at the wrist can cause tingling, numbness or weakness in parts of the hand. Hand tingling can also have other causes, which your assessment considers. Assessment helps determine suitable care; persistent or worsening numbness or weakness needs medical review.

Request an appointment

Stiffness after a healed or medically cleared wrist/hand injury

Once movement is allowed, rehabilitation may work on mobility, strength and everyday hand use while respecting healing precautions. Some injuries need a specialist hand service.

Our approach to care

Hand and wrist treatment, paced to you

Hand and wrist discomfort can affect how you grip, type, cook and dress. Based on your assessment, your program may combine tailored exercise, task adaptations and practical guidance. Treatment is adjusted to your assessment, response and goals.

Wrist and finger movement

Your therapist helps you work on wrist, thumb and finger movement at a level you can tolerate, within any healing precautions.

Graded grip and pinch work

Grip and pinch exercises are set at an appropriate level and built up gradually as your hand responds.

Task adaptations

You can explore practical ways to adapt demanding tasks at home and work while you rebuild comfort and strength.

Support between appointments

A manageable home program, reviewed with your therapist, helps you keep working toward your goals and know when to adjust or seek advice.

We review changes in your symptoms and everyday function, not just a pain score, and adjust your program as needed. Not every fracture, nerve injury or tendon repair can be managed here; we will discuss whether our care suits your needs.

05 — Questions

A few answers before you get started

How quickly can I get an appointment?

New-patient evaluations are often available within two business days. Call or submit a request to check current availability.

Do I need a referral?

You can contact us without one. We will help check what is needed for your visit and your insurance plan.

Do I need a diagnosis first?

No. Tell us what you are experiencing. Your physical therapist will assess your concerns and discuss appropriate next steps.

Will my insurance cover my visits?

We are in-network with Medicare, Medicare Railroad, Mass General Brigham, UnitedHealthcare, Humana, Aetna, TRICARE, BCBS and Harvard Pilgrim. Services for other plans, excluding Medicaid, are out-of-network and subject to clinic benefit verification. We are not a Medicaid provider. Coverage depends on your specific plan. We can help check your benefits and explain estimated costs before your visit. Benefit verification does not guarantee payment.

How many visits will I need?

That depends on your assessment, goals and progress. Your therapist will discuss a recommended plan and review it as treatment progresses.

Is physical therapy right for my hand or wrist?

Your therapist assesses your concerns, explains how physical therapy may help and discusses any medical input needed before or alongside care.

What if an exercise is painful?

Some discomfort can be expected, but do not push through pain that is getting worse. Stop and tell your therapist so the exercise can be adjusted or your symptoms reviewed.

How long does hand or wrist recovery take?

Your recovery plan reflects your condition, activities and goals. Your therapist reviews your progress and discusses what to expect; recovery times vary.

Do I need a specialist hand therapist?

Some conditions and surgical repairs need specialist hand rehabilitation. We can discuss your needs and whether this clinic’s services are suitable before you schedule.

Can I contact you for a family member?

Yes. Enter your own contact information and let us know you are contacting us for someone else.
