How we can help

Explore neck care at FYZICAL Woburn

Explore some of the concerns we assess and how care can be tailored to your activities and goals.

Neck muscle strain and movement-related pain

Neck muscles can become sore after unfamiliar activity or prolonged positions. Your therapist assesses movement and daily demands, then discusses activity changes and exercise suited to your symptoms.

Request an appointment

Persistent neck stiffness

Difficulty turning or looking up and down can affect driving, reading and everyday tasks. Care may include comfortable movement, strengthening and changes in how you approach those activities.

Request an appointment

Arthritis-related neck limitations

Age-related joint changes can contribute to stiffness and discomfort, with scan findings considered alongside your symptoms and movement. PT focuses on movement, strength and the activities that matter to you.

Request an appointment

Whiplash-related neck pain

After a collision or sudden jolt, get medical assessment for possible injury first. When appropriate, rehabilitation supports a gradual return to movement and activity, following any medical precautions.

Request an appointment

Neck-related nerve irritation

An irritated nerve in the neck can sometimes cause pain, tingling or numbness into an arm. These symptoms can also have other causes. Assessment guides next steps, which may include physical therapy, medical review or both.

Request an appointment

Your assessment guides an individualized plan. Your therapist discusses how physical therapy and any care from your other healthcare professionals fit together.

Our approach to care

Neck-focused treatment, paced to you

Neck pain can affect how you turn, read, drive and sleep. Based on your assessment, your program may combine tailored exercise, movement practice and practical guidance to help manage symptoms and improve what you can do. Treatment is adjusted to your assessment, response and goals.

Comfortable neck movement

Your therapist helps you find neck movements you can tolerate, with the aim of keeping your neck moving without pushing through worsening pain.

Neck and upper-back strength

Exercises are chosen to build the strength and endurance of the muscles around your neck and upper back, adjusted to your abilities and symptoms.

Breaks and position changes

Rather than searching for a single perfect posture, you can explore regular breaks and position changes, and adjustments for driving, reading and sleep.

Support between appointments

A manageable home program, reviewed with your therapist, helps you keep working toward your goals and know when to adjust or seek advice.

We review changes in your symptoms and everyday function, not just a pain score, and adjust your program as needed. Tell your therapist about new or worsening symptoms; some changes need medical review rather than an exercise adjustment.

05 — Questions

A few answers before you get started

How quickly can I get an appointment?

New-patient evaluations are often available within two business days. Call or submit a request to check current availability.

Do I need a referral?

You can contact us without one. We will help check what is needed for your visit and your insurance plan.

Do I need a diagnosis first?

No. Tell us what you are experiencing. Your physical therapist will assess your concerns and discuss appropriate next steps.

Will my insurance cover my visits?

We are in-network with Medicare, Medicare Railroad, Mass General Brigham, UnitedHealthcare, Humana, Aetna, TRICARE, BCBS and Harvard Pilgrim. Services for other plans, excluding Medicaid, are out-of-network and subject to clinic benefit verification. We are not a Medicaid provider. Coverage depends on your specific plan. We can help check your benefits and explain estimated costs before your visit. Benefit verification does not guarantee payment.

How many visits will I need?

That depends on your assessment, goals and progress. Your therapist will discuss a recommended plan and review it as treatment progresses.

Is physical therapy right for my neck?

Your therapist assesses your concerns, explains how physical therapy may help and discusses any medical input needed before or alongside care.

What if an exercise is painful?

Some discomfort can be expected, but do not push through pain that is getting worse. Stop and tell your therapist so the exercise can be adjusted or your symptoms reviewed.

How long does neck recovery take?

Your recovery plan reflects your condition, activities and goals. Your therapist reviews your progress and discusses what to expect; recovery times vary.

Does pain down my arm always come from my neck?

No. Symptoms can come from the neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist or another cause. An assessment considers the relevant areas together and guides next steps for your symptoms and activities.

Can I contact you for a family member?

Yes. Enter your own contact information and let us know you are contacting us for someone else.
